NEIGHBOURS told of their torment after a cockerel constantly woke them with his early morning crowing.
Owner Teresa Dickerson, 27, was hit with a noise abatement notice last year over the bird’s daily 5.30am squawking.
She has now admitted breaching the order after the council received more complaints and was ordered to pay £2,000.
One neighbour in Rochford, Essex, said: “It’s very loud. Sometimes it gets up on the fence.
“It’s scary. I wouldn’t mind if we lived in the countryside, but it’s a semi-detached bungalow.”
Dickerson was fined £800 and told to pay more than £1,200 in costs and victim surcharges by magistrates in Southend.
But James Willett, 28, who lives nearby, said: “It was loud, but it’s just a chicken. I’m up early, so it’s a good thing.”
