DO you suffer from nightmares?
Researchers believe the position of your body while sleeping could be having an impact on your dreams.
A study found that people who slept on their left side were far more likely to experience nightmares.
The research, conducted by Dr Mehmet Yucel Agargun, involved 63 volunteers who were asked to fill out a sleep quality survey upon waking up.
The questionnaire covered dreams and nightmares and asked snoozers how vivid they were and how they felt in the morning.
Of the participants, 41 per cent of those who slept on their left side reported having bad dreams, compared with just 15 per cent of those who dozed on their right.
The right-side group also reported remembering dreams involving feelings of relief and safety, but admitted to experiencing lower quality sleep overall.
According to a survey of 2,000 people by mattress maker Tempur-Pedic, the most common sleeping position is on the side, with 57 per cent of people starting their night's slumber in this manner.
Meanwhile 17 per cent lie on their back while 11 per cent snooze on their stomach.
In a separate study by dream experts at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, people who slept on their tummy were found to be more likely to experience erotic dreams.
Those who snoozed face down reported dreams in which they were "tied", "locked up" or "unable to move".
