A WOMAN of 19 has revealed she became addicted to porn at the age of EIGHT.
The teenager, known only as Rebecca, began watching softcore or 'vanilla' porn but her habit spiralled out of control as she got hooked on more extreme and violent films.
Speaking on Australian TV, she revealed she first experienced "deep feelings" after watching a film where a girl was kidnapped, when she was just eight.
She said: “As I got older it started becoming more violent, more aggressive and demeaning, I guess. I would watch it kind of multiple times a day and I felt like I couldn’t stop."
Her own sexual experiences were also tainted as her addiction grew, and she says her partners were happy to play along even though she was only 16.
She said: “It meant my relationships were much more violent, they were centred on sex. They often involved me being in a submissive role like I had seen in porn.
“I wanted to try choking and rough sex, violent stuff and my partners were always more than willing to do that for me."
She added: “Looking back now, a 16-year-old shouldn’t have been engaging in really violent sex where there wasn’t a huge amount of respect or love involved.”
Rebecca, who tells her story on ABC show Australians on Porn, is now seeing a psychologist in the hope of beating her addiction.
She said: "I just would like to have a respectful, equal relationship and a life where I feel good about myself and my sexuality and I can engage in sex in a really healthy, respectful way."
She said: "Retrospectively I wish I’d never seen it, that I could have lived my life without it."
Rebecca’s story is one of many in tonight’s programme, which will include a live debate about the use of porn.
Presenter Tom Tilley explained: “Porn stars, sex therapists, anti-porn activists and regular consumers of pornography will be part of a live discussion forum.
“We’ll see segments we’ve gone out and filmed, from a gay guy in Sydney who uses porn a fair bit to a couple who have it as a big part of their lives.”
There’s also a segment with a webcam performer and her client “both on screen doing their thing”, as well as a demonstration of “the future of porn” — a virtual reality headset.
