WWE legend Chyna found dead at the age of 45
WRESTLING legend Chyna has died at the age of 45.
The WWE star - real name Joan Marie Laurer - who rose to fame in 1997 after being dubbed the Ninth Wonder of the World, was discovered in her home yesterday evening.
Shortly after Chyna was found, a statement was released on her Twitter account confirming her passing and paying tribute to the late star.
"It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer, AKA Chyna, the 9th Wonder of the World has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."
Redondo Beach Police Department are investigating her death, and have stated that there were no obvious signs of foul play.
They said in a statement: "The Redondo Beach Police received a 911 call from a friend of the apartment unit resident that the female inside was not breathing."
Adding: "The friend told Redondo Beach Police that the female had not answered her phone in a few days, and went to the location to check on her welfare."
According to TMZ, authorities are investigating the possibility that Chyna's death was caused by an overdose.
During her career Chyna was crowed the winner of WWE's Intercontinental Championship twice, and she also won the WWE Women's Championship once.
She also appeared in a number of adult films, and released a sex tape with her then boyfriend Sean 'X-Pac' Waltman.
Chyna also found success with her autobiography 'If They Only Knew,' which became a huge hit when it reached the New York Times bestseller list.
Her death follows rumours last year that she was planning on entering the Celebrity Big Brother house.
