
WRESTLING legend Dusty Rhodes – known as The American Dream – has died aged 69.
The popular Hall of Fame superstar – real name Virgil Runnels – passed away on Thursday, the WWE have confirmed.
No details have been released of how or where the seven-time world champion – whose career began in the late 1960s – died.

A statement by the WWE said: “Dusty Rhodes was one of the most captivating and charismatic figures in sports entertainment history.
“Runnels became a hero to fans around the world thanks to his work ethic, his impassioned interviews and his indomitable spirit.”

His son’s Goldust and Stardust still compete in the WWE as a tag-team duo.
Tributes have poured in for the Texan-born fighter.

Professional wrestler Paul Levesque – known as Triple – said: “Saddened to hear the passing of Dusty Rhodes. Legend, teacher, mentor, friend ... Love you Dream.”
And WWE legend Ric Flair added: “My mentor. Much love to your family and more respect than can ever be measured. Love you Dream.”
