YOUR favourite festive hits are still making hundreds of thousands of pounds for acts such as Slade and The Pogues as royalties roll in year after year.
Although the songs are mainly played in December, stars like Maria Carey and Wham! make a fortune every year from their Christmas crackers.
The biggest winners this winter are set to be Black Country band Slade who are expected to earn a whopping £500,000 from their hit Merry Xmas Everybody.

Hot on their heels are London Irish celtic rockers, The Pogues, whose song Fairytale of New York, featuring Kirsty MacColl is predicted to make £400,000.

Coming in at number three in the Christmas hit top earners chart is All I Want For Christmas is you by American diva Mariah Carey expected to make £376,000.

Some acts have been set for life off the back of one song with Stop The Cavalry singer, Jona Lewie, revealing he has “never had to get a proper job” since its release in 1980 and this year alone he is expected to rake in another £120,000.

He said: “Stop The Cavalry constitutes 50 per cent of my real income.
“The thing is, I do everything on the track.
“I write the lyrics and the melody, so that’s all of the publishing.
“And because I’m a musician I can do all the backing track, so that’s all the recording royalty.
“I was a one-man show.
“And if you can get a track associated with Christmas, you get annual regurgitation, and potential for earning every year.”
