Now five, Safyre lives with David’s sister Liz and husband Mike, and her mother, Jennica Duell, is facing trial for perjury over claims she gave false testimony that landed an innocent man in jail for the crime.
Strangers have been bombarding the little girl with cards after a social media appeal to make her Christmas extra special.
Cards from as far afield as Belgium and China have brightened the tragic tot’s festive season.
Her family posted a hart-warming snap of the ‘Super Survivor’ on Facebook, clutching a stack of letters.
