Britain's youngest transgender child tried to cut off penis aged three in bid to change sex

A MUM has let her little boy live as a girl after he tried to cut off his penis aged three in a horrifying bid to change sex.

Kerry McFadyen revealed she just managed to stop Daniel mutilating himself with a pair of scissors in the bath.
After taking advice from gender experts, her son now dresses as a girl, has long hair and is known as Danni in what is believed to be the UK's youngest case of a child wanting to change sex.
Kerry, 32, from Strathspey in Scotland, told of the terrible moment she realised how much pain Daniel, now six but living as a girl since the age of three, was in.
She said: “He was in the bath. Somehow he’d managed to find a pair of scissors.
“When I turned round he was holding them above his bits. I tried to be calm and asked what he was doing.
“He told me he was about to cut off his willy so he could be a girl.

“I told him he couldn’t because he’d hurt himself and bleed a lot and I calmly took them from him and gave him a big hug.
“It was very upsetting. No mum should see their child so upset in their own skin.”
When Kerry and engineer husband Craig, 34, asked specialists why Daniel loved Barbie but hated being a boy, they were stunned to be told he had gender dysphoria.
Danni will be prescribed hormone blockers at puberty to delay sexual development so she can decide at 16 if she wants to change sex.
If so, she will take female hormone oestrogen before having reassignment surgery on the NHS from 18.
Kerry, also mum to Amy-Leigh, 14, Ayden, ten, Dylan, eight, and Charlie, four, said: “They told us it would benefit Daniel to live as a girl until then, as long as he knew he could change his mind at any time.”

She said most parents at school have been supportive and a unisex loo was installed for Danni.
Kerry added: “It is a lot to go through but with support you can get the right help. Getting a diagnosis is the first step.”
She added: “It took me a long time to come to terms with losing Daniel.

“But my daughter is so happy now and a completely different child. We plan to let her be.”
