Woman enters 400 competitions a day, reveals her huge prize haul

A MUM-OF-TWO has won $72,000 worth of prizes in a year without even leaving her home — after entering 400 competitions a day.

UK woman Leanne Kendrick, 30, from Lancashire, spends hours scouring the internet and social media for contests to enter and says she is “addicted” to the feeling of winning.

So far she has bagged thousands of dollars worth of goodies including mini-breaks, food hampers, iPads, mobile phones and DIY equipment.

She said the best prize so far was a day watching her 11-year-old son Harry’s favourite football team Chelsea play a match from a VIP hospitality box — but she’s still hankering after a family holiday abroad.

Leanne’s 400-a-day habit started in September last year after she spotted a friend’s Facebook post from a company offering a free sofa if you ‘liked’ and shared it.

She explained: “I entered, and didn’t think much of it.

“Then, two weeks later I got a message saying I’d won.

“I couldn’t believe it.

“All I’d had to do was click a button, and I’d gotten a sofa, completely free of charge.”

Leanne was initially unaware her lifestyle, known as ‘comping’, existed, but now she is part of several forums and groups where fellow compers tip each other off about opportunities to win big.

Her tactic is to enter as many competitions as possible, regardless of the prize on offer — and it seems to work for her, as she says she wins every week.

She explained: “I’ve got a big family, so even if it’s something I wouldn’t want myself, I’ll always find someone to give it to.

“In the past I’ve donated a lot to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

“My son Harry is in and out of there all the time with breathing difficulties, and they’re always fantastic with him.

“I wanted to give something back and thank them for all they’ve done for us.”

Leanne admitted the competitive atmosphere among other compers sometimes leads to tension.

She said: “Most of the time, people are lovely but sometimes the reactions are beyond a joke.

“Because I win quite a lot, I’ve had a couple of nasty, jealous comments accusing me of cheating.

“But I only win because I enter so many.”

In January, Leanne set up a review blog where companies send her products free of charge to try out so she can report back.

Leanne already has a huge online following, but she warns wannabe compers the lifestyle is “very time consuming”.

She said: “if you put the hours in, there’s a lot of chances to win.

“I never enter competitions that cost money, so everything I’ve gotten has been completely free.

“I’ve won more than £35,000 ($72,000) worth of prizes without even leaving my home.

“The way I see it, I have nothing to lose by entering, so why not?”
