AUSTRALIA has never looked so hot.
Producers of Brazilian tale-novella Totalmente Demais (Totally Awesome) have created a scorching promotional trailer for episodes filmed in Sydney and the Whitsundays in August and September.
Starring the sizzling Juliana Paes, locations such as Hamilton Island, the Sydney Opera House and Royal Botanic Gardens take on a steamy new look in the soap about a seductive but tyrannical fashion magazine editor.
The four episodes will go to air in Brazil next month and are expected to be seen by an audience of 150 million people, providing Australia with invaluable publicity.
Tourism Australia, Destination New South Wales and Tourism and Events Queensland paid $1 million to bring Globo TV down under, and are confident it will pay off.
In the last year, Australia has seen a 19 per cent surge in visitors from Brazil making it a strong “emerging” market, worth around $322 million.
During her stay, Ms Paes raved about Australia in a series of social media posts.
“Paraiso” meaning paradise, she tweeted when she arrived on Hamilton Island which she dubbed “Fantasy Island” in later posts.
“I always heard so much about how wonderful Australia is,” Ms Paes said.
“Now I understand. The people are so kind and the country has great energy, with a lot of good vibes.”
Co-star Fabio Assuncao also had plenty of praise for “how welcome” the cast and crew were made to feel and told media that Australia had a “one of a kind type of energy”.
Australia is set for another international tourism boost in December when US TV queen Oprah Winfrey returns for a series of talk events.
Her last visit in 2010 was credited with boosting US interest in Australia, which has been growing steadily in recent years.
