A WOMAN who was born four months premature and amazingly survived has given birth to a little boy 26 years later.
Alana Elliot, 26, from Aviemore was branded a little "miracle" after she was born very prematurely at just 23 weeks and weighed just 1lb in April 1989.
Amazingly, she defied doctors who had warned her parents that there was very little chance she would survive any longer than a few hours.
But the 26-year-old, who battled for her life and survived after spending four months in an incubator, has gone on to lead a happy and healthy life.
And her wishes came true at the end of last month when she gave birth to her healthy 8lb son names Torin, the Daily Record reported.
It's not the first time a baby who was born so prematurely has survived.
Little Reggie Hanson was born three months early, weighing just 2lb 7oz, to proud parents Danielle Stoakes and Matt Hansom.
His parents decided to keep a photo diary of his 150-day battle to live,Mum Danielle said: “I felt so sad not being able to hold him so decided to take a photo a day to help us remember his first moments.
"I was at the hospital every day, so could see gradual changes in him and was desperate to share it."
But amazingly, after spending the first five months of his life in hospital, Reggie's recovery stunned doctors and he was allowed to go home.
