5 persons feared dead as truck crushes tricycle, car, in Aba

Aba—Five persons including a tricycle rider are feared dead in Aba, Abia State, after a truck conveying beer bottles rammed into them on Aba-Owerri road.

Eyewitnesses told Vanguard that the truck was trying to avoid a ditch on the road when its contents dropped  and crushed the car and tricycle with the passengers.

According to sources, more persons were suspected trapped inside the ditch where the incident happened.

When our correspondent visited the scene, a combined team of men of the Abia State Fire Service, soldiers and Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, were still battling to see if there were more bodies trapped inside the ditch.

The whereabouts of the truck driver,  was yet unknown as he was suspected to have fled the scene to avoid public anger.

A source, Mr. Chukwuemeka Okafor who said he arrived the scene shortly after the incident told Vanguard that he saw three injured persons being brought out from the scene of the incident.
