Around 50 people were killed when Boko Haram fighters armed with guns and explosives attacked a village in northeastern Nigeria, medics and local residents said on on January 31.

ISIS-inspired Boko Haram militants have burned dozens of children to death in the group’s latest savage terror attack.

At least 86 people died when the killers stormed Dalori village in north east Nigeria and set dozens of huts on fire.

Children could be heard screaming inside the structures, witnesses said, but the flames were too intense for any of them to escape or be rescued.

It is just the latest bloody murder of scores of innocent civilians carried out by Boko Haram – who consider themselves the West African branch of ISIS.

One survivor revealed how he was able to escape certain death at the hands of the Islamists by hiding behind a tree.

He described how the terrorists stormed the village and firebombed the huts, which are made from wood and other local materials.

Dozens of charred corpses littered the streets of Dalori village, according to reports from the scene.

As well as firebombing the huts, the militants engaged in a bloody shootout with local security workers before at least three of them detonated suicide vests.

In a particularly cruel twist, three female suicide bombers were lying in wait in a neighbouring village for those who escaped Dalori.

As the terrified villages arrived in Gamori village, the three women blew themselves up, killing dozens of survivors.

The fact Boko Haram is now attacking soft targets such as unarmed villagers is a symptom of their weakness at the moment.

The Nigerian army last year drove the terrorists out of the towns and villages they controlled in north eastern Nigeria.

Boko Haram has waged a six-year insurgency in the region, killing 20,000 people and driving 2.5 million from their homes.
