Read Psalms 119:11 and 40:8 memorize Psalm 119:11
Each day you will give a few bible verses to study. Your
daily quite time should always focus on scripture.
The indwelling Christ will
speak to your heart as you read the word of God
Do you have a good study bible? All bibles in the English
language are translations. One popular bible used by many youth is the living
bible.
It is a paraphrase, not a translation. The original books of the bible
were written in ancient Hebrew and Greek. Because the King James Version was
first published in the early 1600’s, its wording is often hard for readers in
the twentieth century. Try to find at least one of these bible translations:
NEW AMERICAN STANDARD VERSION (NASB)
NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION OF THE BIBLE (NIV)
NEW LIVING TRANSLATION (NLT)
If you did not grow up attending Sunday school, you may have
a problem finding books, chapters and verses in the bible. Using the index in
the front of your bible you will soon learn where they are.
All of today verses are in psalms, you will find psalms you
will find psalms exactly in the middle of your bible. Find and read psalm
119:11 where did the writer keep the word of God?
One way we say I memorized it is I learned it by hearth. The
writer of psalm 119:11 used that same word heart in saying where he kept god
word. The last part of that verse tells one great value of memorizing
scripture. What is that last value?
Memorizing God word can help you keep from sinning against
God. Now turn to and read psalm 40:8. F you don’t have a bible in your hand,
where can you keep a supply of scripture for use in any emergency
No other advice in this book will have greater value for
your growth as a Christian then this one. Memorize scripture on a regular
schedule to help you get started. The first verse to learn is psalm 119:11
memorizes one verse each week.
Why bother to learn the exact words of a scripture verse? Because
it is actually easier to recall a verse word for word, it is easier to meditate
on verse when you can repeat it again and again in your mind. Memorized verses
give you assurance as a Christian in fighting temptations to sin, in telling
others about Christ in explaining what you believe. And God wants you to know his Holy Word.
Begin now carry the verses with you. Start learning one
verse each day of each week. Write the verses and display them in prominent
places on the bathroom mirror on your desk near the telephone.
You will find
that by discipline your mind you can use the bits of time you now waste each
day. You can be memorizing while riding, walking, waiting, or resting.
