THE Grammy award-winning daughter of Nat King Cole who continued her father’s music legacy has died at 65.
Natalie Cole had complications from “ongoing health issues” and US website TMZ claimed she died from heart failure in Los Angeles.
The singer started out in R&B but gravitated to the smooth pop and jazz her dad loved. She won six Grammys with her 1991 album named after his hit Unforgettable.
Natalie, who was 15 when he died of lung cancer in 1965, was also an actress.
She appeared in the hit US TV drama Grey’s Anatomy.
She battled drink and drug addictions and hepatitis, having a kidney transplant in 2009.
Her family said yesterday Natalie died “how she lived, with dignity, strength and honour”.
Crooner Tony Bennett paid tribute, saying the star was an “exceptional jazz singer”.
