Murdered Katy Rourke held hostage and slashed to death when she refused sex demands, court hears

Katy

MURDERED Katy Rourke was stabbed to death after she refused to have sex with her captor, a court has heard.

The body of tragic Katy Rourke was discovered in a flat in Glasgow on Wednesday, and now her accused killer, Gary Stevenson, has appeared in the city’s sheriff court.

Katy, who was originally from Broughty Ferry, Dundee, had been living in Glasgow with her older sister Jen in the weeks before her murder.
Now chilling court papers have emerged to suggest Stevenson, 26, held his victim hostage in a flat where he slashed her to death when she refused his demands for sex.
The 25-year-old cruise ship worker was “detained against her will”, according to the papers, which also say Stevenson “demanded she engage in sexual intercourse.”
They further allege that “upon refusal” Stevenson did “repeatedly stab and slash her on the body with a knife or similar implement and did murder her”.

This news comes after it emerged that Katy’s horrified neighbours heard screams from the flat where she was being held hostage.
A local said: “Somebody told me they heard screams from the flat. The first I heard was when police cars arrived.
“It’s shocking as this is normally a really quiet area.”
Another neighbour said: “She had only been in that flat for about three weeks.
“It’s tragic to think she was killed in that space of time.”
Stevenson will appear in court again next week for a full committal hearing.
