EIGHT Brits have been arrested in Spain after £500 million of cocaine was seized in Spain.
Three tons of the Class A drug were seized in Galicia, north west Spain, and the suspects, who allegedly planned to buy it, were arrested in Malaga.
Police claim the suspects belong to an "important group of drug traffickers based on the Costa del Sol".
The drugs are thought to have been smuggled across the Atlantic from South America by Dutch traffickers.
Spain's National Police said: "This is the biggest land seizure of cocaine by the National Police in Galicia since 1999.
"Three tons of cocaine that were going to be bought by an important Costa del Sol-based group of drug traffickers have been confiscated.
"There are 12 detainees including the transporters of the drugs who are Spanish and the sellers and buyers of the drugs who are Dutch and British respectively."
A spokesman said all eight British detainees are being held in Malaga.
