FINDING a tentacle poking out of your egg is enough to put anyone off their morning fry-up.
But that’s exactly what happened to Lavern Dooley, 54, when she bought an $1.70 box of budget eggs from an Aldi store in the northern UK town of Scarborough.

She said: “As I was about to pick it up I saw this weird stalk poking out of it. It looked like a tentacle ...
“I felt physically sick. I thought a chick was going to pop out on the kitchen table.
“When I touched the tentacle and realised whatever it was dead I still felt queasy.”
Disgusted, Ms Dooley immediately binned the box and claims the incident has put her off eggs for a while.

Aldi has now launched an investigation to find out how the weird tentacle wasn’t seen by employees.
They are baffled about how it escaped supermarket checks and have told customers this is the first complaint of its kind.
A spokesperson said Aldi “will continue to insist on the highest standards from our suppliers”.
