Sex worker Rose Ryan was found dead in her Norlane home
PEOPLE would show up to Rose Ryan’s house at all hours, she had quite a few visitors and people were always coming and going, according to a neighbour.
Ms Ryan, also known as Rose Star, was illegally working as a sex worker from her home in Geelong, advertising her services on Facebook with pictures of herself in racy lingerie.
But it all came to an end on Monday when she was found dead in her Norlane home, a case that has become quiet mysterious.
Police were treating the death as suspicious, with the homicide squad called to the scene on Robin Avenue just before midday on Monday.
After Ms Ryan had died, an anonymous person went to a pay phone near her home and reported the death to police and left.
The pay phone was later found tainted with blood.
But in a strange twist on Tuesday, police announced the death was no longer being treated as suspicious, but said they still wanted to speak to the unidentified man who phoned police to notify them of the death.
It’s unknown at this stage how Ms Ryan, a mother of two, died — but it is clear she had a troubled past.
Last year she wrote a number of posts on Facebook, letting people know she was OK.
“Its me rose just letting u all no im happy, healthy and stil going, trying hard and geting there, trying not to get sucked in buy the mafia and not party to hard useing to much ice. im really trying to stay safe and in control (sic),” she wrote.
In another post, she uploaded some photographs and again said she was healthy and staying fit and strong.
She then announced she was on a mission to find her true love.
In another update last year she again talked about what she was going through.
“I’m stil alive stil powering through everything and trying my best (sic),” she said.
“I’m on the right track and trying to hold it together the best I can. I’m not puting as much on my shoulders and im dealing with all my issues. I’m still single and only dating a surtin type of man but lately ive thought of looking out of my box and checking out who else is around (sic).
“I’m 32 and dieing to meet the one (sic).”
A neighbour of Ms Ryan’s told the Geelong Advertiser the young woman had lived in the street for five years, and was quiet.
“There was always a lot of cars coming and going there though,” the neighbour said.
“Whoever found her should come forward”.
The Geelong Advertiser reports paramedics were called to Ms Ryan’s house about 11.40am Monday after receiving reports of a cardiac arrest.
That was before the blood stains were found on the phone, which have remained unexplained.
The neighbours told the Geelong Advertiser an old ute was parked outside Ms Ryan’s house last weekend.
It remained there until Monday and disappeared just before police arrived.
Anybody with information about Ms Ryan’s death should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report to www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
