North Hampshire politicians trying to pass bill to criminalise women for exposing nipples

A BILL to criminalise women for exposing their breasts in public will protect New Hampshire’s tourism industry and prevent rampant nudity across the state, politicians claim.
The introduced legislation seeks to criminalise women who expose their breasts and nipples in public with “reckless disregard” for whether it would offend someone.

It is partly in response to the Free The Nipple movement, which led to two women being summoned to appear in court after they went topless at a New Hampshire beach in 2015.
The case was dismissed as the judge found there was no state law that prohibits the exposure of female breasts in public.
Bill supporter Republican representative Brian Gallagher told the legislative committee that it was a “shame that some folks are more concerned with exposing their breasts in public places than they are concerned about how families and children may be impacted by being forced to experience this evolving societal behaviour”.
“This is about a movement to change the values of New Hampshire society.”
A New Hampshire Union leader reportedly told Gallagher that the movement could have “unintended consequences on our tourism industry”.
The ‘Nipple Bill’ created an online spat among several state legislators with one male politician saying if women want to show their breasts in public, they should be OK with men wanting to “grab them”.
Opponents to the bill have argued that the ban violates the constitution by creating different standards for men and women.
